One thing I'm really glad dwrp/journal rp did: the change from journal-based games to community-based games
latest #16
(In journal-based games, network posts would be on the characters' journals while logs would be in a log community usually, while in a community-based game all the posts are in the community)
like my first journal games I spent any appreciable time in were Discedo, Mayfield, and Route... 33? 35? That first Pokemon Isekai one
and like either you could read the community page and hope everyone joined the community properly... or go to the trouble of adding EVERYONE IN THE GAME as a friend
keeping tabs on who apps and drops etc
and if someone decides to delete their posts for that game when they drop, that's a bunch of game history just... gone
so yeah community-based is simpler and easier and makes for better organization and record-keeping
I kinda miss spooky jamjars though
like the whole thing where any progress you made to make things better would constantly be undone to keep the theme of the game was frustrating
(fix up the hospital? EARTHQUAKE, no you didn't!)
but survival horror can be fun sometimes
maybe survival horror is better for short run games
Yeah, i like everything being in one comm. The individual journals were a pain
It's one of those "why weren't we doing this from the beginning?" things in hindsight, imo
I especially had issues with in this small game. I felt like no one added my journal to their reading page
