[CW: NUKE STUFF] so i have started listening to the podcast "lions led by donkeys", oft recommended on another podcast i watch "well there's your problem"
and 1) it's very good, joe kassabian is awesome
and 2) i'm listening to the broken arrow episode (missing nukes) and apparently america has lost 32 nukes, and that's JUST america, and that's JUST the ones we know about
did they mention the tybee island nuke thats my favorite
i think they're getting there
also it sounds like usually when a nuke gets lost in like the ocean or whatever, there's very little chance of it actually like detonating. it just leaks radiation for the rest of eternity
apparently nukes are actually pretty good at not randomly exploding, thankfully
THEY JUST GOT TO THE TYBEE
WAIT OH GOD THIS ISN'T TYBEE
THEY ACCIDENTALLY DROPPED A NUKE ON SOME KIDS IN GEORGIA
THEY WERE OKAY BUT HOLY FUCK
no fissile materials so just a big normal explosion
oh my god they have dropped so many nukes on the american southeast
oh my god they just got to the one where when they found the bomb after dropping it and found that all of the safety mechanisms had failed and the only thing keeping it from going off was an electrical failure
oh good there's a nuclear depth charge somewhere at the bottom of puget sound
they also dropped one on greenland
i say "they" actually i mean "us"
oh my god they didn't even MENTION the tybee one
HOW DO YOU NOT MENTION THE TYBEE NUKE????
"we dropped a nuke somewhere off of the third busiest shipping port in the usa right next to their only tourist beach and we dont know where went" and they didnt even mention it
every single other one they mentioned was the same and yet also worse
like we're tlaking guys yanking the "bomb release" handle instead of the "hold this to pull yourself up" handle
we dropped SO MANY NUKES on the carolinas
and several on albuquerque
three kids in i think georgia were playing in a field near a playhouse
and the bomb HIT THE PLAYHOUSE AND LEFT A 70 FT WIDE CRATER
