i can't wait for the inevitably heartbreaking convo they're gonna have - because I think legitimately, Sam doesn't resent Steve's choice, he gets it even if it makes him sad. But he wishes Steve had cared enough to give Sam the chance to say goodbye - and the chance to say yes or no to the shield.

yeah and ultimately I think it'll hurt Steve to hear that Sam thought he didn't care. that this future version of him handled things so poorly like hoisting the shield onto Sam without a second thought. it's not how he would have wanted to do it in an ideal situation.

yeah! I think Sam has a level of understanding for it - that Steve shouldered the loss of trillions of lives for five years, and only got them back through more friends and allies being lost permanently.... he really doesn't blame Steve for leaving, for needing to find peace where no more battles like this loom over him

we can give them the heart to heart they deserved to have over that
