I have a feeling I'll just surprise everyone by deciding to skip the third paper
because course caps have raised since then and I think that means I've got 100 students
so much for my dreams of getting anything done to my dissertation this term

I stand on the enormous precipice of Labor and hope the drop doesn't kill me
or cause a health emergency because lol I am prone to those
May my cancer-hip not choose this semester to snap
thank you I will try not to die
part of me feels like the repitition will murder me long before the workload does
"Okay guys let's talk about improving your sentence variety!

" four times in a row
three of them on the same day
prayer circle that they're all active and invested humans and don't just line up in the back row and stare at me waiting to be entertained
(don't bother praying. They will not be active)
that's... a lot... of grading.
so much grading
i'll see you when the semester is over

kyuupin: I'm still here to coach you through your class >|
I WON'T MAKE YOU BE MY PERSONAL TUTOR!!!! also tbh a lot of that class is going to be like, repeats of what i did in high school
because i took english composition classes to be prepared for college in high school
I mean you're going to crush it either way
but SUPPORT IS STILL HERE
composition doesn't give you much break either, bc it's all... well, you know. So. I'm here to voice my support for skipping or chopping paper number 3.

i skipped the third paper for every course I taught during the pandemic
probably a good call, tbh
it's the part of the semester where I'm like "let's be realistic. you don't have time. I don't have time. just don't tell my Chair"
people had enough on their minds
Omg I’m so sorry. I had 4, then 3, now might wind up with 4 again. All are comp, but only 2 are/could be sections of same course
Chopping paper #3 is something that never occurred to me lol
....now I want to chop all my 3rd papers....
Except in RNM class b/c that’s how I get my new music... lol

man it's your right. syllabus is subject to change and sometimes those changes mean taking things out
the department collects them at the start of the term and that's all that ends up on file
(this is why people with too much teaching experience get overlooked for tenure-track positions. people who adjunct for too long start prioritizing quality of life sometimes

)
also unrelated to any of this but Netflix's "The Chair" makes me feel Seen
it's like "tag urself I'm the messy guy who rolls out of bed just in time to show up late for class but not so late that the class walked out"
I pretend I'm the young upstart with the innovative syllabus who's being kept down by elderly white men, but no I'm The Mess
