Can I get some horror novel recs? I'm kinda running out of material. Or rather, everyone's recommending the same four authors / ten novels, and I'd like more options. >.>
I have read a lot of horror already, mind. But I'm looking for actual like...creepy shit. Not mysteries or thrillers. Paranormal/supernatural is great, cryptids, zombies.
not into Stephen King in any way.
I can recommend the last few I've read if you like?
How are you with body horror...?
Movies, I can't. I don't know about books, though
Come Closer - Sarah Gran ; possession, a short read but decent
A Head Full of Ghosts - Paul Tremblay; well written, possession (or is it??)
The Hunger - Alma Katsu ; supernatural twist retelling of the Donner Party story
Tender is the Flesh - Augustina Bazterrica ; I loved this but it's...clinically horrific
I LOVED. A HEAD FULL OF GHOSTS.
The Troop - Nick Cutter ; what I'm reading rn IT'S VERY VERY GOOD but also DISGUSTING so
and am a sucker for unreliable narrators.
Tender is the Flesh was just open in one of my tabs >.>
and I've hit The Troop already. Adding The Hunger and Come Closer to the list!
There's also The Deep, also by Alma Katsu!
and The Deep by Nick Cutter lmao
apparently that's fantastic
Dark Matter, and Thin Air by Michelle Paver are good
I keep reading the synopses for the "most recommended books of 2021" and I don't know if they're just terrible synopses or
I reeeeeeally loved Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant. It’s murder mermaids and science. (Otherwise I’m not much help, she’s the only author I’ve read, horror-wise.)
Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand, I Am Not A Serial Killer by Dan Wells, Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero, And The Trees Crept In Dawn Kurtagich
Ended up buying the sequel to Rings annnd Whisper Down the Lane, but a bunch of these recs ended up on my wish list / to read, so ty all
