I like using the different eye styles to express emotions

Her name is Chroma, I don't have a last name for her yet, but the picrew definitely helped solidify her in my head

her thing is that she's on a slower-than-light colony ship in hypersleep, but it turns out that the hypersleep people need stuff to keep their brains occupied during that time (or DOOOO they?)

and the ship's AI is running some pretty shitty social experiments on the sleepers, death games and other traumatizing things, the idea is that it can wipe everyone's memories at the end ~~so there's no consequences, everything's ethical~~

but there's a bug in the system where Chroma's memory doesn't get wiped

so she's like super jaded, seen it all, doesn't bother getting close to people because they'll just forget her anyway, all "whatever" and such

Ooooh She sounds super interestnig

and the AI is like "look here you little shit, if you tell anybody what you know about what's really going on, everything will get so much worse"

(one thing about the ai is like... it's only doing this because it was told to, all HAL 9000 style, so the real villains are the ones that decided to run nasty too-unethical-for-real-life experiments on the sleepers)

(apparently the thing with HAL 9000 is that it had contradicting orders, to complete the mission AND keep the real goal of the mission secret from the people, and the only way to accomplish both was to kill them when they started asking question)

Something funny I thought up: If I put her in a nice pleasant hugbox game, she'd still be all suspicious, all "ohhhh the AI is trying to get me to put my guard down and soften me up for the next round of torture"

but having unfamiliar people around would make her go all "...????" because in all the rounds she's been through she's met pretty much everyone on the ship there is to meet so

oh and there's a phrase in dwarf fortress that could also contribute toward a name?

if a dwarf goes through too much bad shit they get "doesn't really care about anything anymore" in their bio

also the reason she's all black hair, black eyes, black clothes is because I made her for a story with 20 color-themed characters, based loosely on algicosathon (sp?) but I don't think the other 19 will be quite so monochromatic, she's special because she's the main character and all

first class passengers chilling on VR beaches and watching the plebs for entertainment

and maybe... maybe she was a rich person in the first place

and tried to help the plebs by hacking into the system so everyone could have VR beach vacation

but the AI caught her and tossed her in the experiments

(maybe that's what caused the memory bug, going from VR beach to experiments?)

because I see her as a compassionate person that hates the fact that she is compassionate, and that would play into it

like sees someone in trouble and has to help even when she knows it's a really dumb idea

Kaiba is in a game that encourages hugging and he's also suspicious of it

Though he's been there long enough to not be as concerned
