Is anybody on Statin here? How is it?
I'm trying to convince my partner not to take it. I believe mas kaya ng lifestyle change kaysa maintenance drug.

Somehow, I don't trust doctors sometimes. But yeah. I hope doctors would push lifestyle change more than just lazily prescribe a drug with scary aide effects. I can only name a few doctors that I know really care about me

Sometimes lifestyle change won't be enough. There are times when our body can't recover from a chemical imbalance by itself and would need support from medication. As long as your partner keeps his checkups regularly, it should be fine.

And like what Ade said, eventually, if he manages to maintain regular BP, maybe he can eventually stop taking them.

AdeMagnaye: thanks for sharing. i guess pag immediate nga yong need for it, then it must be taken. my partner is not experiencing any symptom naman but his bloodwork showed high TDL and LDL with normal HDL. Im worried cz they say if you're on Statin, you should take it for life

gadgenista: Statin's side effects. my partner has been taking it before. then he had severe lower back pain... As I did my research, statins weaken muscles because it blocks creation of Coq10. leading to weakening muscles and even neceopathy... eh... heart, brain, liver are all muscles...

According to my readings (Google Academy and http://YouTube.edu/... lol) the cause of clogged arteries are oxidated LDL. oxidation happens because of chronic inflammation, caused by stress, insuline resistance.
aka Sugar is the main culprit

Although I agree with you both. if immediate need, talgang Statin is 🔑. I told him nalang to ask doctor about the negative effects of statin, what he can do to minimize it. and if there's an alternative way to lower his cholesterol.

How long was he taking it? And how much was his dosage? Severe lower back pain could be a symptom of anything, it could have been coincidental with his intake of statin and could have been caused by a variety of other reasons - age, bad posture, etc.

Also, hypertension can also be genetic. No matter how much you control your food intake, or exercise, some people have a predisposition to having high BP and the only solution is to take medication to control whatever needs controlling.

I hope you find a doctor that you feel you can trust. Not all doctors prescribe medicine because it's the easy solution.
