Talking about my RP history made me go through my old OCs and look at the worldbuilding I've done, and I've gotta say: although I'm terrible at storylines or long-term games? I make some hella complex worlds.
Milo's world was my most detailed, and though now I'm like hmmm I would change some things, I constructed an entire language for him. ;.;
That was the bird boy from an indigenous society in the middle of a technologically advanced world.
David's world was also pretty great; illuminati-type shadow cult of people who could raise the dead, and David himself able to do it but not sure how to stop siphoning off his own life when he did.
I have a desperate love of folklore/urban legends/fairy tales, and I've played a lot of urban fantasy characters that aren't just like. Oh, here's a fairy, she's a dancer and also kicks ass! (...okay I. Like Seanan Mcguire et al. But I also like the darker stuff in folklore.)

It occurs to me that I have a very strong preference for blank-slate canon characters, too, just because I really enjoy creating as I go, or examining their canon and drawing conclusions about them from there
