this is like picking a favourite child but as i slowly rotate through the water wheel of favourite yttd character i will report right now that kanna is currently at the top

yttd is one long trauma conga line for her but she's Doing Her Best and i love her

this is a hard one bc like. even midori is fun to hate, like a really well constructed villain you want to drop into a blender
i'd say i was lukewarm on the floormasters, actually, bunny is slowly pulling me around

undertale

krisssss. love me some... idk what even to call this. metaexistential horror? anyway it's my jam, esp getting to see the hints of their actual personality peek through. if it has to be undertale specifically and not the weird not-quite-shared universe, i do love Chara immensely. this kid also tried their best and it uh. did not go well

this is fun bc there's eight premade characters and they are all weirdly good for pregens

seizhi schwan, nervous piece of living architecture ripped out of the fundament of the void to be the best friend that the wishing boy wished for. recently found out that they only started retroactively existing like a year back and are having a Crisis about it but it's cool, it's chill, it's fine.

currently trying to figure out their role in life outside of 'best friend' bc chuubo is cool and all but. also deathly afraid of people finding out they aren't Real

it's never stated in chuubo's directly, but Seizhi is what is called an Actual; a piece of the unliving fundamental grammar underlying reality that can get hiccuped onto the surface of it if enough hubris creates a wound in the world

this is usually a bad time for everyone involved, because the actual is not supposed to have things like form and identity and has the frantic urge to jam things into it's maw to try and understand itself in relation to the world around it, only it just turns those things into more of itself which is why it's a bad time for everyone else

Seizhi's nice though. They could make you more like them by talking to you, but they won't. I mean, unless you want to skip out on getting red hair dye.

none i love all of them. I think the one i most consistently forget is poor Natalia tho
i think she suffers from the fact she'd be extremely cool... in a universe that played more to her narrative strengths
her being an anime-esque russian cultivator that can come in and suplex Death is very awesome tho

running again into the problem that it takes a lot for me to actively dislike a character as opposed to being uninterested or 'needs work' on them... Hanako himself is a little flat but maybe that's the point?
