First, I was impressed to hear that my one uncle who is super right wing, stubborn, and doesn’t give a shit about his health is vaccinated
But my other aunt and uncle... are not. And my aunt bright covid to them and their two adult kids
At first my aunt was like “it’s fine, he just has the kind where you throw up” about my uncle
But then i guess he got to the point where he couldn’t stand up without coughing so bad he couldn’t breathe
Got taken to the hospital by ambulance at 3am
Can’t believe this. He has diabetes and was a smoker up until like a year ago
Now has beginning stages of pneumonia
His kids are freaking out
well that's a hearty OH FUCK
it is the morning now and ugh I almost forgot this was a thing
when my mom had asked them about the vaccinations, they'd said they didnt get them because "too many people got sick from them"
...I guarantee you more people are getting sick from the thing that is a disease
Any news on how he's doing? Also, how are you doing?
I think I'm more anxious than I realize
and he's stable, not currently intubated or anything
but my cousins are a mess, and mom is worrying because of how she keeps hearing how fast that sudden turns-for-the-worst happen when covid patients seem like they're doing good
I was reading up some on Omicron...looks like it's crazy contagious, but tends to run a bit milder than the other variants. There are still people needing intubation, but (percent-wise) less of the pneumonia cases need it. It's attacking nose and throat more than lungs.
