I was really expecting this to turn into a fight and am pleasantly surprised it went this direction instead

just because he's a big dumb dumb doesn't mean he doesn't have things in his past that doesn't fill him with rage

it's because he's grown up watching some superheroes act irresponsibly he wanted to be one himself and do better

and probably beat the crap out of anyone that ever tries what to do what Captain Radiance did to his dad to someone else

it's why he's a grown man who talks way too much about his dad-- he's still scared 17 years later

and a part of him is really pissed at being stuck here and not able to keep his eye on his dad, despite his dad retiring from supervillainy years ago and the worst his dad having to worry about is Karen's causing issues in his co-op

he knows it's irrational but he's never been able to get it under control

like losing his body kind of sucked but it doesn't haunt him like getting kidnapped after his kidnapper hurt his dad

thinking about this at work, but it's also nice to show another side of him

and how his past shaped him, but he refused to let it define him. He is stubbornly optimistic and believing in the good of people no matter what
