it's just? such a good story?

AoS has wonderfully consistent characters who regularly land in boring or stupid plots

each member of the ensemble cast grows and changes and adapts to the changing world around them but they still always feel like the same person

driven with the same motivations and the same heart

growing but never feeling OOC

I'd definitely appreciate getting the eps. AoS just frustrated me too much by the fourth season to continue. Great characters, but I couldn't deal with them building up interesting plots and then just.....dropping the ball on them lol

yeah the plot is the worst part of aos for sure

omg feels. I was lost on a lot of it, but it seems like Fitz had a great journey. AND I am very intrigued by the Doctor and also....ughhh, those scenes with Radcliff. I think I stopped watching right around when he showed up, so I never predicted he'd give all those father figure feelings. :'[

the parts you were lost about were stupid bad b-movie scifi plots that don't make sense even if you're paying attention

OH OH but hoshizoku: I promised you a roadmap! So if you just want to go through the Doctor stuff, head toward season 4 ep 16. I think the "previously on" blurb will probably fill you in on any plot stuff you need to understand but basically, it's your generic "we built a robot to save the world and then she saw some shit and decided that the way to save

the world is to save it from humanity" stuff

AIDA (the robot) is limited by her physical restraints so she's trying to build a meat body to have her consciousness transferred into so she can get past all the protocols against hurting people

they perfected the process of creating robot replacements for people and she's been slowly picking off SHIELD members and replacing them with bots

if you want to see Iain fucking ACT his way through being a robot duplicate then start at s4e15

"sob sob I'm so unhappy ACTUALLY NO GONNA MURDER YOU" is such a good scene

ANYWAY

so aida shoves captured agents into a VR sim that's hyper-realistic except it contains one thing that they want -- she figured out that the way to make people believe a fake reality was to give them the one thing they wish would have gone differently in their lives

but to make everyone's wishes make sense together in one universe, she ends up constructing a bad end dystopia where hydra wins

and then framework stuff happens

fitz is one of the last people to leave (...ish) so there's a couple of episodes where he's skulking around regurgitating whatever the Trump folks were up to around then

like there's a "nevertheless, she persisted" so it's very Of That Period

and so that goes on through s4e20

21 is the fallout so it's optional watching

mostly just iain crying beautifully and sitting in a guilt puddle

and then 22 is the season finale "oh no let's do something about the evil robot" big explosion stuff

Alistair Fitz was the worst.

he was such a presense I was really surprised when we didn't get to see him in the real world

the plot was like "well THAT was a fun story NOW LET'S GO TO SPACE AND NEVER SPEAK OF IT AGAIN"

OH OH additional episode note: if you're watching JUST for the Doctor and want to see him be a big dom stepping all over vanilla!fitz's subby face, that's s5e14

he's like "YOU ARE WEAK" and fitz is just like "cries about it"
