Has she tried looking at the readme file?

It used to be where a .bat file is what launched something. I haven’t used winblows in a very long time.

Swamp_Daddy: she said it won’t open. Maybe if she right clicks?

Swamp_Daddy: yeah I’d love to see her back on a mac but they’re too expensive. Unfortunately I’m the only one willing to help her.

If she right clicks the https://README.md/... file and renames it to README.txt she'll be able to open it. But, it looks like she's looking at the installer?

She’s trying to install.

She should download whichever installer is appropriate, and then "run" it - Windows should prompt her to do that.

Windows should pop up a dialog asking if she want's to run the installer, she should answer yes.

stevebob: Is that shot from the site? That’s not what I saw.

The .exe is the app. I think she's looking at the installer directory. When she clicks the start menu is Inkscape there?

Well, she ran .exe and that installed it, apparently. Thanks for your help!!

The .exe was the installer then. It's running ok?

Seems to be. 🤞

This is the official download page if she needs it. Download Inkscape 1.1.2 | Inkscape

That looks a bit suspect. I hope she got it from the proper place.

Good luck. Inkscape is great, but if you're not used to it, can take a while to get used to.

JigmeDatse: thx She doesn’t know vector but I hoe she can learn it.

It just kind of does things differently than say Adobe Illustrator. If you're starting with no knowledge, it probably doesn't make a huge difference, as long as you look for stuff on the right software.

I’m late to the game, but suggest she trash what she’s got and go to stevebob’s link.

If you aren’t positive she got it from a legit source in the first place, yes—trash it, then go to the legit download source Steve posted.
