https://images.plurk.com/2JsrCIyamHAwF3YqPeAldO.png Tonight we learned to purl and used it in a stockingette stitch swatch. Front side is top picture.

p.s. Nothing I do in photoshop can make this colour look attractive...

I kinda like the color. It's very warm.

The color is not important right now, unless it’s so abhorrent you put the project down. You’re making really good progress. If you know how many rows in that swatch you might practice counting them.

Weniki i can live with it for practice, and it's the same weight as my nicer yarn so that's really useful. And I did count them, cause i was trying to make gauge. So this is yarn for 10x10cm 14st 20row and i got 13st 18row BUT i'm using 8mm needles instead of the recommended 6mm needles so.... i'd say i actually got pretty perf for my first try of purl

You seem to be grasping the concepts very well, and your practice swatch looks good. When it’s time for your project you’ll adjust needles or the pattern.

Weniki: Yeah, i am prettty happy with progress so far!! Although I am cautious that I am in very straightforward territory! I found some gloves I can make on straight needles with a simple rib pattern and the pattern is calculated anyway so i will naturally be adjusting from the sample swatch at the beginning.. seems perfect.

Weniki After that I'm thinking of something with a moss stitch or double stockingette just to get used to a slightly more involved pattern... and then I'm probably closer to finishing my pillow covers (the original goal all along) than i expected! Fingers crossed!
