Watched the King's Man. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would but it was still a bit odd

the story itself I thought was pretty good, and I was invested
and it actually surprised me at times, which is rare in a blockbuster movie in 2021
but where it got weird for me was how it kept trying to do the prequel thing of "and this is how Han Solo got his name!" because it felt forced into an otherwise decent movie

god they got so high off their own farts from the first movie being good
the sequel was full of self references that felt so unearned just like that
what makes me so angry about the second movie is there are parts that are so good wrapped up in so much horseshit
I love Poppy and everything about her. She's bubbly. She's bonkers. I stan. I like the Statesman concept and their agents. I even like the subplot about the princess girlfriend
and then there's everything else
