It's not GOOD. The plot is both extremely lazy and convoluted, some of the dialog is cringy as hell and there are WAY too many characters so we don't really get much time or development from anyone but the core four.
But some of these character interactions are just so chefs kiss.
Bart's a little too "old Impulse" at times but all in all is way better written then he had been in what feels like forever. The new Flash comics nail down what his personality should be at this point much better, but I'll take it.
I don't hate it, but I wish they hadn't focused so much on using it to intro new characters for the new lines.
Also, Cassie does have all her memories back. No explanation on how that happened so far (unless I missed it, because I really am just skimming right now), but she does. And Tim and Kon also have all their old memories now. No slow burn.
The Kon-Bart hug is one of my fave moments.
Kon is just straight up the old Kon from the original universe displaced in Gem world before Flash Point could happen. (Also, the baby wasn't his, he was only saying he was that lady's husband to protect her, she basically just took him in while he tried to find a way back home. They weren't even a couple)
Bugly42: And YEEESSSS! the Kon and Bart interactions in this have all been SO good
It's my fav part of the comic so far, I'm taking screen shots to post.
I mean, I'm kinda confused on the Impulse thing, still. I need to reread the Flash stuff.
Their banter is very cute and I've missed them genuinely feeling like friends, instead of Bart just being the spare tire to the Tim, Kon, and Cassie core three tricycle.
they're SO freakin', cute.
I actually got to basically do something similar in RP with Bart recently because he got reunited with CR that he'd had to be careful not to touch due to powers issues, and said character now had control, so glomps ensued.
Flash comics don't explain it outright, just kinda hint at some stuff. It would be nice to have an explanation for that. But I'm also kind of okay with it (mostly because I subscribe to Bart eventually taking on Max's mantel instead of the Flash)
I agree that he probably shouldn't take the Flash mantle again.
Bugly42: Awww! That sounds so freakin cute!
They really screwed the pooch on him being the Flash. T-T
There was so much interesting shit they could have done with that and they screwed up at almost every turn. It felt like the writer just really wanted to write for Barry and got stuck with Bart.
I feel like not all of the writers get that Bart's flightiness is at least in part a protective act.
I play that it's a lot of "if I try not to think about it, I can pretend I don't remember."
I think Kid Flash Lost was very good at showing that.
Yeah. That's why it's kinda become my default canonpoint.
And yeah, that's how it reads for me too. Gotta being active, gotta be moving and doing stuff, don't want to get caught up thinking too much becuase then the axiety and depresion sneak in.
KFL is a very good canon point.
And the paralysis of too many options to assess.
Forever love that bit were we see that happen in the comic. Just screaming at max that he's he's having too many ideas and they're all dumb!
I always think back to the issue of Impulse where his friend got "shot" by the one bullet in all the automatic fire Bart missed.
Bart's incredibly sensitive, caring, and smart, but he also has the problem of all those things combine to being overwhelmed at times.
Bart at Meta is letting me explore a lot of that. He decided to live on a farm in Kansas because that world's Central City is too crime-riddled to be comfortable.
God! I forgot about that issue! yeah that was really good. And oooo, that's a really cool idea. Also kind of sad that Central City is in that state, but it sounds like such a fun plot to play out
I mean, he's still doing incidental hero stuff, but lower-key. Mostly because he's NOT a major power.
That's feels like how Bart should be honastly. That was kinda how he rolled in Manchester
And since he totally visited the Kents while Conner was there, he at least knows his way around a farm. (And I headcanon a really rough awakening the time he tried to superspeed milk the cows.)
oh noooooo, yeah I don't se the cow thing going well for him, but i can totaly see that happening
Man...I need to skim back over the Titans comics, too. I legit can't remember if Kon came out to Bart and Cassie about the Lex Luthor thing before he got mind controled by him. That's a pretty big thing to forget.
No. Only Tim knew. He was thinking about saying something when it happened.
okay! I thought that was the case but i wasn't 100% on it. Thank you
That always kinda bugged me. (a lot of how the cour four friendship was delt with bugged me)
Bart is...easy to overlook.
I actually have him make jokes about it. When he's standing next to guys like Kon and Tim, who notices the scrawny guy?
true! I like to think he takes advatage of it
Being overlooked does make it easier to make good use of his one-trick-pony powers.
oh shit! actually he does take atvatage of it in the new YJ. Strait up took a pick of Kon punching Lex when no one noticed!
Also, it means nobody realizes he went on a doughnut run until he comes back.
oh yeah! He's does shit like that all the time!
Although, it also means that they go off to Jupiter without checking Donna's ship without him because he forgot his gameboy.
That was WAY old, though.
oh god! yeah! he was SO pissed! XD I loved that!
I don’t like how Bart gets treated once Johns takes over.
me either. he just get's shoved to the side. we go from the "core four" to the "core three" because Johns just didn't know what to do with Bart and didn't really care about him.
I used to make a joke that he could easly be replaced by a lamp with a wig and kid flash log in most plots
There was a few good moments with him in the johns era and his personality wasn't busted but Johns just had no ideas for him
