the answer may surprise you!
because it's yes.... sort of. he tries to stab ranger in deleted material
shin's interesting bc he knows if things come to physical altercation he's not got good odds, and he's not much of a fighty type anyway
but, a weapon's a tool, and shin's opportunistic, especially when he feels backed into a corner
the second main game is a sea of 'did that really happen' but i'm willing to believe he DID panic-tase Q-taro
if he feels he's genuinely under attack, he will stab, and if he has a really strong goal he will stab
which is interesting bc he's been accruing weapons in yogen
can't wait for something to go wrong with this
he's got a cursed knife, a cursed gun, his taser, and now his scarms
i do love that the first use of the scarms isn't as a weapon or defense, but as a bandage that's just very thematically nice
SIGHS, SHIN
he's got such a good heart
esp since as annie put it, physical violence isn't in his hate language; he's much much much more likely to be cutting with words
even his 'i'll take you down myself!' at midori is more about defeating the man, and i'm willing to bet anything his pivot to 'no messing around, we need to kill him' happened at some point in the library
that's a pivot yogen shin hasn't made. he's had some realisations but he's never had it shoved in his face in text like that. he's also suspicious of his own reflexive self-defense urge after everything in game. the result is, well, looks at meeting. he wants some kind of solution but is reluctant to act, and his panicked thoughts don't help
but yeah shin... is often really taken off guard when things turn to violence it's interesting
i should also mention that would shin stab and would shin kill are very distinct questions as well
