Which is to say, full dex at research 10, and a living dex to boot.
And I have to say, this is the most fun I've had with a Pokemon game in a while.
I wasn't sure if I'd like it much going in, because open worlds and I don't really get along too well? I get lost and overwhelmed easily.
But somehow PLA never had that problem for me?
Maybe it's that it was one main quest that never really branched much, maybe it's the separate zones, I don't know.
I like chasing after trees and rocks to get materials to craft more balls to catch more mons with.
I like sneaking up on mons in the field. Or running from them.
I like the Unown collecting sidequest, and how it's a scavenger hunt that you get little hints toward.
(Spiritomb wisps weren't quite as good, but that's what guides are for.)
The NPCs are all good, too. The Diamond and Pearl clans are both full of mostly good people, and I do appreciate Cyllene and Laventon.
Kamado... well, whether I forgive him or not is up to me, I guess. That hit harder than it probably should have, but that's neither here nor there.
And then of course there's Volo, who my siblings and I lovingly refer to as susman. Because he's sus, as I believe the kids say these days.
I kind of hope we haven't seen the last of him. He's fun.
And of course, that final fight against Arceus this evening was so good. A matter of learning patterns and executing them (which I am... not good at but that's fine).
My Alpha Blissey was MVP for that, between Draining Kiss, Softboiled, and being a special tank.
It isn't flawless, I have some minor critiques - it's hard to see small fish in the water, for one, and also there are some parts of the plot that felt a bit rushed in places...
But they're minor in the grand scheme of things, and this is their first time trying this kind of game, so I'm glad they experimented.
I hope they do another one! And/or DLC.
Imagine if they gave this treatment to the original Unova dragon---
Honestly I had an easier time with the wisps than the Unown? I'll admit to needing a guide for one or two of 'em, but for the most part as long as you do it at night they're pretty noticeable.
I really love Legends. I'm trying to make a living dex (with alphas, where I can find them) right now as I slowly work towards a full Perfect am I slightly crazy? maybe
