What made you pick up Fitz and what about the character has allowed you to play him for as long as you have?

are there any new characters you've thought of picking up lately? (with the eternal caveat if there was all the time/bandwidth in the world etc)

kindaklutzy: man, HONESTLY? I'm mad at this fucking nerd. I didn't watch for him. Fuck him. I started with AoS halfway through season 2, and binged it in like three days mostly because I was going to a new year's party with people who were REALLY into mcu/shield and I wanted to be able to follow conversations

I knew Skye was a tech girl and I'd seen enough of them on memes to know that the average RPer didn't know enough about tech to write a hacker well and I thought it would be fun to ICly talk computer shit

and a lot of season 1 is kind of boring, kind of exhausting, and hinges on stupid ""comedy"" that lost me

I was offended by Jemma's eyebrows also

those eyebrows got way too much screentime

and then the hydra reveal happens and all of a sudden the annoying screechy brits are having an emotional scene?? and he's offering to drown for her???????

and then season 2 starts and fitz is having his issues with language and is isolated and struggling and lacks the ability to express what's wrong

and I was like "oh shit, it's my brand"

suffers quietly and means well but can't express himself oh no my kryptonite

so I picked him up for memes because I thought it was interesting to play with the hesitation and the stammering

stuff like the "I didn't solve it TODAY" sequence, where he's trying to explain that he had the answer to the current problem in an old workbook that he needed help finding

I impulse-apped a game that had a Skye in it, basically ONLY because there was a Fitz already in my home game at the time

and then he got all kinds of CR and emotional complexity going that there was always something new to do

and the canon was ongoing so if I got bored there was always a canon update to freshen things up and create new tensions

the Doctor stuff was a fucking surprise

but by then I had gotten into the habit of letting Fitz's skillset lend him to longterm plotting. he's resourceful and innovative so there's time to do basically anything with him with a long enough lead time, and that can lead to stuff like "science guy tried to build a way home but oh no it went wrong"

he's a good support class character, and I always play bards and clerics in D&D

so I guess he holds my interest because he's a resource to offer people looking to do things with other plots

and even though he's an introvert he always seems to have something going on, or is in the middle of being bullied by someone or whatever

but idk I guess I have the most fun with CR dynamics that explore sliding grey moralities

he has a habit of imprinting on people who show him kindness and then deciding they can Do No Wrong, and that's fun

especially in penance, when the person who picked him back up was The Devil

but yeah I guess the answer to your question is that he's comfortable and fun and hasn't run out of things to do yet

I guess the first thing that pops into my head is that feeling when it's all going well and everything is firing on all cylinders and you can be like. Brian says something to Steve but then Steve

is kind of sus about it so he checks with Terri and then next thing you know Terri and Sharon are gossiping about Brian even though brian and sharon have never threaded

I love when there's a sense of community, like all these fake people actually live in a space together and you can imagine that the ninja turtles nod politely at the Winchesters in the kitchen but the Winchesters haven't been brave enough to ask about it so they just accept there are giant turtles in the community

moonstones: This one's hard!!! I haven't made time for new fiction in my life in a while, and sometimes trying to find new rp partners is hard because I just haven't seen most of what people are playing now

people keep binging and bouncing to threads and I'm like. I have no idea what's happening in any of these canons

there was just a CR meme at penance, and everyone was all "follow me, I talk about this canon a lot!" and I'm so far removed from fandom it's like ".........NOPE not gonna give you anything entertaining, sorry"

i totally get that, but also +1 hard to the sense of community thing and extra bonus points for the ninja turtles&winchesters visual.

I think the one that I perk up for every time someone tags it is probably this thread with Aiden and Natasha, in that selfish "teehee they're talking about my character" kind of way

i mean, that's always fun
