stevebob: I figured it out but still can’t do it in mailchimp. 🙄 In dark mode, colors are inverted. So white type against an image gets turned black and is unreadable.

Is MailChimp offering a “dark mode” option? (I haven’t touched it since leaving the Board.) You might be better off not using it, if they do, and let recipients’ e-mail applications take care of color management for you.

Otherwise, you might be able to use CSS wizardry, depending on how MailChimp implements “dark mode,” but complex CSS runs the risk of being defeated by Web mail systems—especially Yahoo, which ISTR as being particularly boneheaded.
