so I was looking up what pecs are even good for, and now I will share my findings
latest #42

they're one of the biggest muscles in the upper body and are pretty important for upper body strength
silencerp
they help you pick things up and also arm wrestle
silencerp

and apparently in body building/male attractiveness they're considered more important than six packs

because they help create that inverted triangle that's considered attractive

and gym bros apparently have a saying of "no pecs, no sex"
silencerp

but yeah I'm trying to imagine a dude who has a six pack but no pecs and it's just not working?
silencerp

like you can have pecs without a six pack but idk how you can have a six pack without pecs

(also I've always kinda thought six packs are kinda gross, even before I found out how unhealthy they are for most people. idk they just look gross to me, my ideal attractive tummy is firm and flat but no indentations other than the belly button please)

also having a six pack doesn't necessarily mean you have strong core muscles, it just means you have very low body fat
silencerp

especially for dudes since they tend to carry their fat on their belly
This reminds me of all the random research we both ended up doing in Tabula Rasa XD

:-)
And I read all of this.
I don't know what to say about pecs and six packs. like sometimes they look good to me, sometimes they don't.. it depends and just be healthy people and characters of fiction XD

pecs are nice if they're not like... TOO big imo

idk I'm only really into fictional dudes so shrug

here's some other stuff I researched

the stereotypical butler wears gloves, right
silencerp
but actually in victorian times butlers DIDN'T wear gloves
silencerp
like one of the things they did was handle wine and gloves could make them lose their grip on the bottle, so no gloves
silencerp
(butler actually comes from some old words that mean "bottle" and "cup-bearer")
silencerp
a lower-ranking servant that served food wore gloves so they wouldn't get fingerprints on the dishes
silencerp
and I guess people mixed them up
silencerp
people also mix up butlers and valets XP
silencerp
a butler manages other servants/the household, a valet is a personal servant
People do mix up butlers and valets quite a bit. I've seen that for sure. Well.. I've seen a lot of butlers wearing gloves too.

I mostly prefer fictional persons myself and some muscle builders definitely go too far.

functional muscle is best imo

...said the 17% body fat weakling lol XP (but I'm female so 17% body fat isn't bad at all)
silencerp
at least that's what the scale said when I did it, it did the thing where it does an electrical current through your body and measure how long it takes to get back and calculates your body fat from that somehow?
silencerp
(well, 17% body fat isn't bad on anyone, but girls have higher body fat Because Babies)
silencerp

do you want to hear a funny story about me misunderstanding something
silencerp
so I just added "yes, he'll probably hug you back" to a character's permissions page under "hugging"
silencerp
and it reminded me of the time I was reading a shippy fanfic and read the phrase "he kissed her back" and I was like
silencerp
wait I thought they were making out why is he going to kiss her back
silencerp
only a long while did I realize
silencerp
it didn't mean back as in ANATOMICAL back, it meant back as in "in return"
silencerp
derp
silencerp
so yeah that particular phase, since "her" is both possessive and objective, is ambigious
silencerp
oh hey remember the "people mix up butlers and valets" thing
silencerp

"while in smaller households, the butler usually doubled as valet" apparently there's some actual precedence, nice
