do you think I'd get more bites if I referred to him as scp-662-1 instead of mr. deeds
cuz like... that's not his official name, but it would be if his article was written today
and it makes it clear that he IS an scp and not just some dude for folks who don't want to go read his article
so there's a bit of a hook of mystery there
still wild that he's only described as "short" instead of having an actual height with numbers
why can't the foundation measure the height of a cooperative humanoid anomaly? why?
so I looked up average height of a man in victorian times, google says average male height (not sure which country, didn't check) was 5'5"
so I'll make him 5'4" cuz I like even numbers
and then I checked weight for 5'4" dudes and I see him on the slender side so
google says 117 -143 is normal bmi for 5'4" male so 120-125?
but yeah maybe worth experimenting to call him "SCP-662-1 ("Mr. Deeds")" on the next meme I tag and see if that does anything? idk
people may be more inclined toward the SCP designation bc personally when I saw Mr. Deeds I went ".....like the adam sandler vehicle?"
yeah apparently that's the inspiration for him
apparently in that movie there's a butler named emilio who's really fast?
IDK I must have seen it at some point when adam sandler was actually considered funny, or when I was too young to know he wasn't funny, but I don't remember a damn thing
is it the one where he buys one share at the end
Oh yeah and the twist with Emilio is great.
What if you used him as a PB?
nah I like the cute animated one ;w;
(what's the twist with emilio? I remember nothing about that movie and don't mind spoilers)
That he's actually the rightful heir to the fortune that Deeds inherited, by dint of being the benefactor's actual son with a maid that he fell in love with.
which was how he was able to buy every share and fire everyone else.
...I seem to remember somebody smashing somebody's frostbitten foot, did that also happen in that movie?
Deeds' foot has frostbite and he uses it to smash through some ice
unless you mean when he dared Emilio to whack it with a fireplace poker
another thing about that character:
in canon, they call the piece of the bell that's missing the ringer, but I know that that part of a bell is called a clapper
but apparently clapper is something vulgar in british slang?
so yeah I split the difference and call it a "ringing mechanism"
...don't google bell clapper
or do but it's kinda gross
google bell clapper -testes if you want to actually find bell clappers and not gross stuff that has nothing to do with bells
I play a character that uses a bell with its addons being called clappers and I've never run into that issue
I was wondering why the person writing the article called it a ringer instead of a clapper, thought maybe it was a us vs uk thing, googled something like "what is a bell clapper called in uk" and found the vulgar slang
but I'm pretty happy with the solution I found, "ringing mechanism" is pretty unambiguous even if you know nothing about how bells work
