What drew you to playing Akira?
Unfair enablement- no, that's not actually a lie but that's why I caved not why he was a possibility to begin with.
I have a type, ngl. I have a marked tendency to be drawn to characters that are clever and in some way deceptive. I also enjoy shitpost and sass, just as a general rule.
And Extra. God, is Akira an Extra little bastard.
I like characters with hidden sides to them and Akira is very much that. His behavior in Phantom Thief mode is so different it's like seeing a different person, but it's actually truer to who he really is than how he acts in reality.
Extra characters are fabulous
This bitch jumped out a giant second story casino stained glass window. Dramatically.
Tell me a little about Tiernan! When did you start writing him, was there any particular inspiration/
Tiernan is actually originally from my family's long-running D&D campaign!
And he kind of just built himself. Tiernan isn't even his real name but I didn't find out what his real name was for like three years.
Terrible true story from getting his character sheet done.
I was trying to build him as a sorcerer with specializations to match who he was displaying as in my head.
It wasn't working.
Ohh, that's neat you guys have a long campaign together. c: Also "characters that are clever and in some way deceptive" is a great type! (It's often mine as well.)
Finally my father brings me a side book and shows me the beguiler class. I read over it and just "Oh. This is perfect."
Tiernan abruptly pipes up in my head "I was wondering how long it would take you to realize I'm not a sorcerer."
The best type of character
Yes. This fucker has more layers than an ogre.
I always say he's Chaotic Neutral by dint of constantly choosing not to be Chaotic Evil. It's a constant effort for him.
The worst part of Tiernan, for the not-yet-informed, is that somehow he almost never eats consequences for his bullshit.
Annoys an eldritch demigoddess? The rest of the group gets mind whammied into starting her cult while he nat 20 will saves his way out of it.
Decides to walk right in between a red dragon and a ghost that are arguing and mediate? Not only does he succeed, the ghost has an immunity to fear aura that protects him from the dragon's fear roar when it leaves.
(I thought he was insane at the time and I'm still mad about it.)
