Yep, they sent her a link and she thought it was from a friend

so she downloaded the file and ran it, and it booted her out of discord

She was still logged in on her phone at the time and still had some access for a bit, but she says she didn't have any payment info on discord

it was on her computer though and they got a hold of her passwords

Update - discord refunded everything and gave me a ton of resources to see if I’ve been compromised in various data breaches

They also wiped 2FA from my account that the hacker put in and temporarily disabled it so I can have my old account back

10/10 discord

I’m not going to reactivate my account yet because I want to change every password I have and install new protections

But I think I should be OK after that.

Paypal also has my account temporarily locked while they ensure I don’t have a totally compromised account

Moral of the story is tackle these things quickly when they happen so the douchebag who did it can do minimal harm
