I'm still excited; the AWL games were my first exposure to Story of Seasons/Harvest Moon so I have a soft spot for them

AWL was my favorite games from the series growing up. I was SO excited when they announced it!! I really like the old designs, but I think the new designs is their response to fans complaining that the bachelors were ugly, with Marvelous admitting that the girl versions were afterthoughts and less consideration went into the bachelor designs.
When I played AnWL, I really wanted to marry Daryl lmfao. I was a weird kid. But I settled for Marlin. Now he's Matthew and oh boy did he get redesigned lol.

I'm not entirely opposed to the redesigns, but these are such drastic changes! I mean, I would have preferred if they had kept Cody really burly and maybe at least keep Marlin's old hair style but modern it up a little. When I first saw the trailer I was like "oh they're adding this many new characters??" until I saw some other media for it, lmao
i wish i could still marry griffin like in DSCute, though

I like Matthew, but he also looks like a generic tsundere brooding angst machine. Which is typically who I marry in these games a la Gray/Blue, Cam/Kamil, Neil... but still lol.
a little confused by the cody redesign, in my memory he's like...the reclusive artist, but his new self is looking extremely sporty

Yeah, you're right. Cody lived alone by the lake and, iirc, made metal sculptures by punching them. I was skeptical that that was him until the JP AWL site confirmed it.
