[nyc] in the most new york moment, I'm pretty sure there is a shootout happening a few cars over and everyone on this side of the train is just like ".....sits quietly on our phones until this all gets sorted out"
the conductor has stopped at every station being like "there are police on the platform if you need assistance <3"
and then we got above ground and she just went "we are directly above the new york police department"
and now the train is stopped and it sounds like distant fireworks
which. is what gunshots sound like
I would like very much to be back in motion but I understand why we are not
ok cool whatever happened seems to have stopped happening
sounds like shit got wild and it probably won't even make the news
there were a lot of shots fired
here I am pretty sure that of I hear fireworks it is in fact fireworks ... which is reassuring
...yeah this is the vibe lately. as is my reaction being relief it wasn't your car but a complete lack of surprise and many unkind thoughts about our mayor.

yeah tbh I think I'm mostly salty that it made me late for my 9am class. I've been riding them really hard about personal responsibility and then lol whoops sry guys can't start class without your professor
koutavi: tbh I was really impressed with how the conductor handled it. very like "there is clearly an incident and I see you"
"we are not leaving the NYPD until this is settled"
ah yes that "i'm going to be annoyed over the inconvenience of it all so i don't cave to distress" nyc commuter energy
And when I was living in Boston
Watched someone start to smoke crack and I just moved to the next car...
how are you all so chill over this omg
because panicking is a life disruption that people dont really have time for, probably
panicking takes so much physical energy do you know anyone with that kind of stamina in 2022
like the first time I had to commute into nyc after online learning lost support! I was walking to my bus home and there was a bunch of yellow tape marking off an area. and someone was complaining about how a stab victim ran and left a really inconvenient blood trail that he now had to clean up
at the time I was like "lol yep I'm back in Manhattan" but also I kept moving because I had a bus to catch
im not about to not go home just because I want to stop and be traumatized
how ... dare that stabbing victim be selfish and inconvenience everyone
exactly
Or the naked man that was running at me the other day, a car did slow down so I could walk in the bike lane and people saw naked man and didn't yell at me for walking in the street
Couldn't be late for work
My co-worker was late because someone started smoking meth on the bus and they had to stop for a couple of minutes to air out the bus
Oh but do stop to record the cops if its a tussle that it looks like the cops started
That shit I will stop for
The public transport being like that is one thing I do not miss about NYC.
