So I was looking at Bonnie Bots' attachment name tracking, & it's really fascinating to me.

It brings a wonder: is this how we can track what the top bodies really are according to daily uses?
& if so, that would mean according to this data, Maitreya is still the top body on the grid.

What are your thought son this?

I wondered because I saw Legacy hands and feet but not the body in the same range

SparkleSkye: multiple versions of the body breaking it up. some other versions of lara bump those numbers up more too

[BODY] Legacy (f) (1.5.1)-1746, [BODY] Legacy (f) (1.4)-1245, plus perky also counts totally differently but i believe uses the same hand and feet attachments

and Lara is at least broken up into v5.3 (11347), v5.2 (915), v5.1 (761), and v4.1 (1131)

I think to get a true picture you would have to count up every instance

or at least know how many release versions to look for. those are all from the first 100
Allegory
second 100 do not have any of either of those base bodies (maze thighs, some ass attachment, but not base body), and by that point it's only seeing 230 of that thing, so it's already getting into rounding errors on lara.

2 versions of meshbody classic female (a little over 600) on that page, one of male (363)- but if you're looking for meaningful data on what's worn, that first page is giving enough of the "big picture" to show that maitreya is WILDLY more popular than legacy

it looks like ebody is right up there Belleza no where to be seen atm

^^^ Yeah, I wonder if it's worth reaching out to this person and ask if they can focus on gathering body usage data and having it automatically curate it by brand + body name. It seems to be the least biased method over surveying and sending teams into events to right click and inspect random users.

SparkleSkye: Belleza's only holding relevance in the men's market for now, the female body competition has left it in the dust. Releasing GenX during the rapid rise of eBody is probably what dampened the hype imo.

SparkleSkye: i'm only seeing ~3300 ebody, including 2 versions, going through the top 300

Genx classic has 49 Genx curvy 51, that does not bode well for it

more people are using mods on ebody though, from the look of it.

I think the intial price was a huge mistep on their part
✴Sparkling✴

had they come out at the same price as Matreya and ebody, more people would of taken a chance

coming out at more than legacy, I think people looked and walked away

I agree. To add Belleza had some very short sighted decisions as well, for example: mandatory bento adult female genitalia that can be 'hidden' locks those bento bones to said unused parts, thus, it's not desirable in the non-human/fantasy avatar market at all. I'm not sure if they fixed this yet but they really, really need a market advisor.

Contraption: it would give much more meaningful data, but depends on whether they want to put the effort into sorting it- they would have to filter out all the mods and alt bodies from the same brands for meaningful results. annnnd you still have the problem of eventually someone punking the data sorting by wearing misnamed attachments (not that that is
Allegory

likely at large enough scale to be meaningful)

can i use the word meaningful more times in a row, until it stops even being a word?

so someone actually does this, with a bot, and compiles the data every 6 months or so. I can't find the most recent post, but here's the one from last Dec: Mesh Head & Body Stats (Round 4)

I was pouring over that website last night. I think searching for each brand, adding up the numbers of each version, and writing down what total numbers each body has would give a good idea, and be more accurate. BUT there is another issue here, store owners might also want to do the favored bodies of their store's shoppers

BishieStyleSL: Wow thank you! And this is really, really interesting data.

In addition to the points everyone else made about how different products are broken down differently or appeal to different markets of shoppers, there is also the factor that not everyone is an avid shopper. The heaviest clothing/skin/hair shoppers are also the most likely to purchase a newly popular body.
Lette
Those least likely to give up their Maitreya after many years of use are those who aren't as invested in staying cutting-edge.
Lette
So even if 70% of the female avatars on the grid still use Maitreya (that's a made-up number, I have no idea), they may be more like 35% of the market share for new products (also a made-up number), while another 25% use newer bodies but make up 60% of the market share for other products.
Lette
All made-up numbers, just an illustration. The point is that these stats reflect everyone on the grid, not people who actively spend money on the grid. Whether Maitreya wearers are still active shoppers can only be determined at the transaction level (I still wear Maitreya and plan to do so until it's no longer easy to find clothes for it).

SparkleSkye, thanks! I think people who prioritize keeping their avatars up to date, or who make a living from those who do, forget that they're actually a niche. It's a sizable niche with fuzzy edges, but it's still a niche.

it's why a number of stores are dividing out releases by bodies these days, and using that for their own customer base. surveys are more than useless, and bots are only a partial picture. salt&pepper recently changed support based on sales, and it was a similar picture to that bot page though- with the notable exception of belleza genx (i can't even FIND
Allegory
that in bot surveys, though i admit i quit looking after a bit- S&P found genx classic had a fair amount of traction already)
✴Sparkling✴
I think the survey on gen x are misleading, it is not that people do not have or want to use the body, it is that there is not a lot available for it yet.

I have the body and like it a lot, I set up my shape with a couple of outfits that I was able to find, but I revert back to legacy if that is the only option
Allegory
SparkleSkye: that's part of it- i wear the body required for what i'm wearing with it. i have a distinct preference, and i'll wear (and buy for) that body whenever possible, but i end up wearing another body that i do not like as much as it has more support. a bot scrape only gives the partial picture.

right I wait for sales on the bodies and have most of them except kupra and a couple of the very new ones just released. Legacy and Bellexa Classic are the closest to my preference Ebody then Maitrey. I will switch bodies to wat is needed if I do not have a chpice
