i think ianthe is just a bit too unapologetically cruel. like, in ways that john isn't really? he's by FAR the worse person out of the two of them and i would say that ianthe's casual cruelty masks that her intentions aren't necessarily bad most of the time. she's just very much not looking for people to like her.
