I'm realizing that Finn had actually told like, very few people any facts about his actual life. He's given people dribs and drabs, but he hasn't told anyone how he lost his arm or much else going on with him right now. And he very specifically isn't talking to Jake about it, for reasons.

He mostly has just talked about the stuff he's more comfortable with, like the fact that he is adopted and was raised away from humans. More sharing facts than how he feels about those facts. And not much about how interacting with his bio Dad messed with him and continues to mess with him

It hasn't come up much, probably out of politeness. But I do genuinely think he would want to talk about it if somebody asked? The only person in canon who isn't immediately shoving prosthetics in his face the moment it happens is Jake, who also has the philosophy of letting Finn feel his arm situation out kind of on his own.

Contrast that with PB, who wants to force him to kind of speed run through confronting all his trauma in the most efficient way possible and basically doing the processing FOR him

Neither are like, WRONG PER SE, imo Jake has the better strategy but both still kinda fail. Jake fails by treating him maybe like too much of an adult and PB fails by treating him as too much of a child.

He's never really talked that much about it beyond just "I am angry and I want to rip my Dad's arm off for revenge" --> "I'm too tired to be angry anymore, now I've burned out and don't feel anything at all"

I think he naturally shunts his own stuff to the side with people who either don't feel like they'll receive it well or with people who seem to have loads of their own problems. It's just a more comfortable and natural thing for him to want to listen and be their rock (even if they don't want him to be FFFF)

There are some notable exceptions tho. He's going through that with WWX right now after leaning on him like crazy, now being more aware that Oh No He Has Emotions And Pain Too and that ability to be that vulnerable is different now.
