肯尼迪為登月計劃發表演講《We Choose To Go To The Moon》（中字）第35任美國總統John F. Kennedy於1962年9月12日在Rice University in Houston, Texas發表的演講，演講官方名稱為《在萊斯大學關於國家太空事業的演講 (Address at Rice University on the Nation's Space Effort) 》，旨在說服美國人民支持載人登陸月球計畫。
1960年代，美國面臨蘇聯太空計畫領先的局面，當時的總統甘迺迪決心扭轉局勢，於是設定了「十年內登陸月球」的願景。
1963年11月22日，甘迺迪在Dallas, Texas遭受槍殺，無法親眼見證人類登月的那一天。副總統Lyndon B. Johnson繼位，持續推行後來被稱為「阿波羅計畫（Project Apollo）」的登月任務。
阿波羅11號於1969年7月16日發射，執行載人登月任務。21日，Neil Armstrong與Buzz Aldrin成為首次踏上月球的人類。24日，三名太空人返回地球，任務成功，實現了甘迺迪於1961年5月25日在美國國會提出「在1970年之前送人登陸月球並平安返回地球」（"this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to the Earth."）的願景。
