Getting into any newer gacha, especially English ones, nowadays feels like a fools errand

Yeah, it's. Dire. The only thing I'm getting into here soon is Honkai Star Rail, and I'm filing that under "too big to fail". Like a bank- oh, maybe a bad comparison.

Even some VERY long runners in Japan are starting to drop like flies now - Tales of Asteria after seven years for example.

Unfortunately Tales games going the way of the dodo is more common than not, that one may have lasted awhile but Bamco kills them left and right basically for sport

Yeah. Asteria notably is one of the ones that never came to the US period.

Now the only one left is Rays, which seems to be going OK.

A lot of the big companies are paring down to just a couple games (or ones that don't depend on live-service - Sony isn't going to bother killing Lemmings Mobile when it doesn't cost them much to operate)

Meanwhile Sony bought Bungie for live services experience and Platinum opened a live services studio IN CONJUNCTION WITH Babylon’s Fall.

There's still plenty of Live Service hits out there, but I feel like the bottom is starting to drop out fast and there won't be many successful newcomers anymore. Square Enix is a big example as recently covered by James Stephanie Sterlong.

Sony making new LS games would be competing with Destiny 2 and FGO for example.

So less incentive for them to make new ones.
