So ESO was a wild ride and the RP community... like all communities in MMOs was a bit toxic, small and people had reputations

But it's ESO

So lore mongers were A Thing.

OF COURSE I joined a guild that was basically a massive Fuck you to lore keepers

But in all honesty, being from journal RP, I was way above their style. I indirectly got the guild to download a spell check add-on, I shit you not lmao

I say above, which sounds snooty but lol if you guys SAW what I was working with... I am making it worse but ya it was skeletal

You could barely call it RP but more like shorthand with style. It was a mask to be toxic for some "don't blame me, my character stabbed you"

I taught these kids what metagaming was, godmod etc.

I wrote a tutorial on what they were and how to avoid being a dick

And still my character would end up in these positions

So I played a villain. But it was technically a guild of villainous vampires

The leader had a "moral code" and the concept was A knightly order, but actually just a bunch of vampires with "rules"

We'd be online for hours, drama would happen, sometimes plot by players, sometimes like a Soap Opera because when boredom strikes...

You'd log out. Then do a journal sort of write up as an attachment to whatever drama there was during the "day" and it was fun in that others could read what your character was thinking

Naturally, being a villain and flowery in person then having a very schemey blatantly evil journal entry had its downsides

I got metagamed into an execution

WHICH WAS THWARTED but it's just weird to see all this ... like a decade after it went down

Not quite that. Maybe ... 8 years ago? Geez been a while

In the end, some bad shit happened. I left the guild and the game and I have no contact with any of those people anymore. 2 I wish I did, most I don't

I don't want to talk about that shitshow. Done and buried and I think maybe I mentioned it on plurk way back when but I don't think so. It was more than I'd want to talk about here. Although I'm a chatterbox so maybe I did but I ain't diggin it up

So WHAT DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH GOOGLE DOCS

Well, I was tidying and I stumbled on my journal archive for this villain character

We initially all posted onto a forum

When the shitstorm went down, it was essentially a coup. The leader shut down the website

We had the foresight (the officers) to scramble and recover as many journals as we could

I managed to snag 5 different players' efforts

A few others managed to gather others

But all of what we couldn't take immediately got lost

Maybe we could find it with way back machine?? I'm not sure I want to retrace the steps

Anyways, it just feels weird to find this and remember snippets of it after so dang long

Because some of these entries are fucking ridiculous

And I do miss this character something fierce. She was such a nightmare

I am terrible at villains, so comically bad.
