I feel like NEW STUFF is usually a good one for me, but what we know about this next part of the event is not HOOKING ME (maybe because i kind of missed the first half?)

Which is not a critique of the event, but maybe personal sensibilities that aren’t being pinged by anything just yet.

sometimes i just pick up a random old muse and toss em in a texting meme just to so something a little mindless but still engaging

just something to get the juices flowing again and break the rut

honestly what helps me the most, weirdly enough, is listening to voice clips of the character

somehow it always reactivates me lol

something about the audio maybe bc ive found canon reviewing is never as helpful with canons that don't have an audio component

I also love just doing self-indulgent things

I'll even start a new thread that's really fun and let my inbox sit where it is

I SHOULD clarify my motivation is not in ability or eagerness to play, i think i have both of those, it’s more about figuring out how to engage with the game (which was unclear phrasing on my part)

So maybe it’s more like that I’m spinning my wheels on generating ideas right now? Boomeranging older stuff is probably a good thing to focus on though!

And like, easier CR forward stuff in the meantime

the plot right now is cool! i cannot wrap my head around it whatsoever lmf

mostly i just aggressively throw myself at open threads

i also have big Puzzle Solver brain for plotty stuff like missions so i kinda like reverse engineer from 'hey what's needed oocly' to 'hey what can my character provide icly of these needed things'

I think i have a hankering for more thoughtful, or planned content, but....specifically i wish i was engaging with the plot more? I’ve been putting it on the back burner for the past couple missions

I’ve been doing lots of VERY GOOD, VERY SATISFYING CR STUFF THAT I LOVE WITH MY WHOLE HEART

But i feel VERY disconnected from the larger narrative of the events so I’m feeling kind of wistful about that sort of thing

i think its harder in general at xim if you dont play like. a highly skilled/specialized type, esp if they're a kid

i had that same struggle with shinji back in the day

but like. when i wanna get involved more i basically do try to think about what i can offer in terms of what's necessary for solving the most recent leg of plot

like vash isn't a scientist or a doctor which are the main needed things for this mission but like. for example we need a way to get the access codes from the heavily guarded federation spot and my dude has a 6 million dollar bounty on his head in canon bc its so fucken hard to catch him so i offered him up to be a distraction on that heist

some missions I just don't engage the overarching plot tbh

sometimes they just don't ping me the way others do and sometimes they hit me at a bad time irl or motivation wise

most missions don't really allow wei wuxian to play to wei wuxian's strengths power wise, but actually don't find that to be a challenge for me personally

I like the human side of things, getting to understand the NPCs and things going on at a human empathy level

we still have that jail thread we can do! i am finally revving up to my inbox but i'll be around for a little bit if you'd like to boomerang that

i can try and write a starter for you too if you'd like

or if that's not really appealing atm we can rework it into something else

but when I want to get involved in the mission plot and don't know how, I tend to close read the event log a few times

I think probably this one just isn’t really hitting anything that’s like, super personally exciting to my sensibilities, which is ABSOLUTELY OKAY, and i do expect (and in fact think it’s good) to have some months of being less involved! the cirawei mission was a good example of a mission I chose to kind of sideline and just,

really engage with the setting

Which i enjoyed and was a nice pace break!

I've done that on several missions!

But i think i was really itching to get more engaged with an event and this one just hasn’t been hitting for me in any special way, AND it’s a two month mission so I’m like, ‘oh no, I have to wait until June or July for another mission?’

I also don't really make plots until the log actually drops tbh

fwiw the problems you've probably seen me waffle about in the last few months if you happen to have opened those plurks are similar and I know that one way around them, if there is any way, is asking other people to handle the TLs for a while

Having a really hard time writing them has made me catastrophically slow in events.

and if both sides in a thread have that problem, then yeah, someone has to step up, but a lot of the time it's not the case and the person who is not having issues will have no problem getting things rolling.

toss at someone who i know has some enthusiasm for cr, get that going; in xim if it's log related wait for those log drops, the plotting posts aren't useful comparatively. if not feeling a mission, find an angle my character cares about and run with it; sticking to network if i'm real real low

some plots work, some plots dont. tbf, we've regularly struggled with engagement for our second logs/second half of the mission and asked for feedback before so its something we're conscious of and trying to work on - its not just you!

YEAH and like I genuinely don’t want anyone to think it’s about...the event? I sometimes hesitate to talk about these things because I’ve notice it sometimes invites event structure dog piling that I don’t agree with. My creativity and engagement issues are my own, not the game’s!

And if there are ever places where the events aren’t working, i love that ximilia is a game that actually invites some feedback! It’s such a response space, wrt the mods as well as the player base!

I think I’ve had some OOC stuff that’s been like, giving me some creativity blocks that are not the usual for me, and I’m WORKING ON THOSE

I might do a CR meme or something fun like that later to get juiced up abut how much I love my CR and feel a little more connected!
