it's so funny whenever damian has to defend his dad's no killing rule because he doesn't even necessarily agree with it

for one every time he meets the joker he makes another attempt at murdering him or damaging his brain so badly that he would be rendered a vegetable

or other MUCH WORSE MUCH MORE HUMILIATING STATES OF BRAIN DAMAGE.

he cares about the ideal that it represents though even if he always thinks of himself as too tainted to really be able to live up to that ideal. i see a lot of damian fans who think damian's reaction to the prospect of killing would be repulsion and thought him getting excited at being able to use lethal force without them dying in robin (2021) was ooc but

tbh i don't really agree. he cares about giving people second chances like he was given, because he thinks that if he judges people as being deserving of death and carries it out then dick and alfred and eventually bruce and stephanie were wrong about him

which he does think they were, is the contradictory thing.

honestly i don't go to comics in the least but over and over whenever i see batfam things the dynamics are always very fun and compelling
