Concerning Dungeons & Dragons being on the to-do list, note that there's a distinction between D&D: Honor Among Thieves (the new movie) and D&D the TTRPG. And that not every D&D setting is the Forgotten Realms (where a lot of D&D media takes place, including Honor Among Thieves).

Also taking place in the Realms are the old Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale CRPGs, the Drizzt novels, and so on.

It's probably worth having two plurks -- a D&D Honor Among Thieves/other Forgotten Realms plurk, and a non-Realms D&D plurk.

Since there's also D&D media that doesn't take place in the Realms -- any Eberron stuff, the Dark Sun novels, Planescape: Torment, etc.

that kind of implies that it's only forgotten realms or not forgotten realms and that's how it's divided though, which i don't think it is?

like, i think just having subcatagories under one plurk would be fine

Yeah it'd be easier to put D&D into just it's own general umbrella because even if you get into it there's so many various expansive worlds even putting aside the movie or podcasts it'd just get very bogged down.

though Dark Sun novels are their own...weird thing, they could work as a seperate thing if you ever look into how wild that is.

I know the novels effected the metaplot so hard they had to reset it in 4th edition

Meanwhile, Eberron has an anti-metaplot stance. The default starting year is always 998 YK, and events in games/novels/comics/etc. aren't canon to the TTRPG setting.

(Though of course nothing stops you from putting Abraxis Wren or the like in your home game anyway.)

(My general advice: if you want to pull in characters from Eberron media into your Eberron TTRPG campaign, they should be a different kind of adventurer than the PCs. If you've got a band of adventurer-archaeologists, a detective existing in the background won't step on their toes, and vice-versa. /tangent)

I mentioned earlier that I try to make these plurks as broad as possible to kind of maximize visibility... if I separate Honor Among Thieves from Legend of Drizzt, one might get 50 replurks while the other only gets 10

If I put them both under a broader D&D umbrella, they both boost each other and get max visibility for it

I may have to separate out Disney, though. That one's such a media conglomerate that it's almost too broad.

I think bigger franchises like Marvel, DC, D&D etc will always have the disadvantage that there's SO MUCH under the umbrella that it wouldn't be feasible to pull it apart. Consider the insane amount of things that fall under the Marvel umbrella.

I do think that perhaps in terms of D&D and related things, a separation between D&D Media and TTRPG Live Play

A request to like... put Street Fighter in the same category as the other fighters. It would seem a bit overkill to single one series out while the other get a group.

Yeah... I think there's inevitably going to be some overlap with categories, so I should probably put up some lax guidelines like "cross-posting in multiple plurks is fine, you can put your KH Mickey in both the Disney and KH plurks, you don't have to choose one."

just be reasonable about it, like don't put a Tony Stark in the Kingdom Hearts plurk or something

Also on the topic of D&D: as a TTRPG, it's expected that people will make OCs. As such, I'm left wondering what this account's stance on such things is; should people leave their OCs out of things and just bring their tie-in media characters?

I don't see an issue with it! I don;t know how much luck you'd have posting to a meme like this with an OC, since people will probably be on the lookout for specific characters, but as long as the character fits the category I don't see a reason to ban OCs or anything.

I think with disney it also probably depends on how big of a series it is, too?

like TOH is a very big and active fandom whereas Gargoyles is older and more niche
