So I've gotten a couple PMs about my posts flooding people's timelines, which I feel bad about. I've been thinking about posting a few each day -- what do you guys think would be a reasonable number? 2 or 3 per day?

2-3 seems like a good amount so it shows up for a little bit on the timeline without flooding anyone

But I suppose it would also be a bit on the quieter side for some plurks depending on popularity as well. One thing I noticed is I would see a lot pop back on my TL but it was usually for bigger fandoms

yeah i think plurks basically get unmuted when replurked by your friends, or smth like that, so widely-shared posts can be that way

I think 2-3 sounds good, yeah! and maybe a bump could happen for some quieter fandoms?

It might be a bit awkward, but would combining smaller fandoms into one post work?

iirc you can only have a certain number of plurks muted at a time, so old ones get unmuted. I could be wrong. I haven't seen a huge spam of these posts personally, but I can understand how some might. I do agree on the 2-3 per day sounding good.

some small fandoms are really hard to find people in, so my worry on putting several in one post is that some would still get lost. but that's just my take ofc

my opinion is anywhere between 2-4 per day is completely fine for smaller fandoms + any that do have like... a presence, but probably still aren't super likely to be popping off with response multiple times per day consistently

vs more popular fandoms with a relatively big, or at least mid-sized?, dwrp presence, i can see how more than 1 per day (or even every couple days) might get overwhelming

it might not be a bad idea to space the bigger fandom plurks out a bit from each other, so (for example) you don't constantly have 3-4 different plurks all being actively replied to several times per hour or whatever

like! ftr i would definitely rather see smaller fandoms still getting their own plurks to show for it, and i don't really care about ""timeline flooding"" much at all, i'm mostly just suggesting spacing them out a lil for the sake of the ppl who are more sensitive to that kind of thing

I think 2-3 a day or even every other day is reasonable. As for fandom 'size', I don't think you should overly stress yourself on that part. It isn't reasonable to expect you to anticipate/be aware of just how large a fandom is.

I especially since I have interacted with some of these that have seemed like they would have smaller responses because of how 'dormant' a fandom might be at the point and they have had quite a bit of activity.

yeah i have like two people on m timeline that have been replurking every single post. So that was a bit weird? But in general, 2 to 4 seems reasonable a day? Or choose one major large fandom and three or 4 smaller ones a day? Also you seem to be doing them "late at night" for my timeline, so i feel like that works pretty well. Like I only see the 'flooding'

later in the evening when my timeline is really quiet? so to me that seems fine? like not a lot of people are hitting it then but it's still easy to find?

But i Do think 2 to 4 is pretty reasonable!
it might also be a good idea to use a plurk empte/tag for the comm like how games have plurk emotes. that way people who are really yi bothered can plurk saviour the comm very easily no matter the replurk. I agree that 2 - 4 small fandom ones on a day vs 1 big fandom on another day might be good, too.

Oh yeah! that's a really good idea. if you use a single emote or title, people can add that to a block list if they really want, right?

maybe encourage people not to replurk and follow the account if they are interested since thats what got really crazy on my timeline. or if people really wanna replurk something maybe there could be like digests every x days with links to the posted fandom plurks and those are created to be replurked

^this and encouraging people to chat less in the things (which would also improve finding the info you're there for actually) would probably help a good bit^

the blockable label is genius, I will start implementing that!

I don't want to discourage chatting because I feel like the casual back-and-forth & the excited "omg you play xyz?" is the kind of energy I wanted to cultivate

You could make and pin a post to plurk so it's the first one sees when going to your page. and use it as directory. So any time you post a new fandom you link it there. that way if people replurk THAT it only shows up when you add links, it's easy to find fandoms all in one place, and with a blockable emote, others can ignore it if they want. ?

having a directory would also ensure that small fandoms wont get lost or too hard to find!

and you can disable commenting in that plurk, so that no one comments and links get lost.

it would also make it pretty easy for you because linking isn't too bad and you'd also have a list of things you've already posted so you don't have to worry about 'did i already do this?'

redlionspride: there actually is a directory! The pinned plurk has a link to a spreadsheet with listed fandoms & links, + a google form to request a new fandom post

well then ignore me! LOL nice! I didn't actually look just now haha
Yeah, 2-3 is a good pace. It also doesn't have to be EVERY day; also worried about you burning yourself out.
