local twig of a man, shiro looking motherfucker, does not realize he's about to lose his eye, custody of his children, his reputation, his best friend's trust and his wife all on the same day.
i support anime slade because it makes fanboys mad
those people who think slade is a batman villain because he showed up in the arkham origins trailer and he was so cool and doesn't afraid of anything....
slade fanboys are another breed to me, which is unfortunate because for the last like thirty years they've been making comics for dc.
There's a specific category of characters that includes Slade for me. It is not a good category.
Slade, Joker, Boba Fett...
The "Annoying overexposed edgelord only liked by angry single men"
Unfortunately Batman also winds up here from time to time
slade and walter white are the same person the only difference is that all of slade's enemies are between the ages of ten and eighteen and also in the comic that slade was introduced in he was in a sexual relationship with a 15 year old.
and also that walter white is written by people who know that he sucks
slade is an interesting villain to me but he's so deeply comically pathetic that i think trying to make him cool drains him of anything that makes him compelling
bc like. in new teen titans he decides to blame the titans for his son dying, even though they were just there at the time, and in so many more ways it was actually Slade's fault for inspiring his son to decide to become a mercenary and then throw his life away on a contract against the teen titans. and his death was planned by the clients to manipulate
slade into signing on with them. but he doesn't want to have to address his personal flaws so he blames the teenagers who his son tried and failed to kill, and then he continues in this endless cycle of denial and stupidity and ruins every single relationship and friendship he ever has because he can't accept responsibility for ruining his marriage and kids
Starfire gleefully encouraging somebody to kill themselves is so cursed V:
starfire in the comics has to be constantly talked down from murdering people
i don't think she would differentiate she just really wants slade to die
One, because comics starfire is super different from cartoon starfire, which that design definitely looks like, but two, gleefully encouraging suicide is kinda cursed on anybody
i mean the main difference is the speech quirk.
I hope dearly that there's some cameo scene where he encounters one of the baby Teen Titans and has beef with a five year old
or just in some way they show him having unreasonable enemy tension with actual kids to highlight what a loser he is
his archnemesis on the show isn't Superman it's Flip and he keeps losing to her
I was living when they released Katana's issue of Other Side of the DCU and she straight up called Slade a dude who people worshipped as the manliest of men, but she would always just call him a pedophile because he was sleeping with a 14 year old Terra. And so that's what she thought of him as. No big threat, no respectable enemy. Just scum.
the outsiders have known brion for years. the titans even had a skewed perspective of her and there was a fair bit of understandable resentment on their end but brion just loved his sister and everyone around him knows of what happened through that lens.
