I want to see both Oppenheimer and Barbie and probably can’t see both in theaters (Barbie is obviously going to win out) and reviews for both are solid but once again, I am begging Hollywood to consider than not every movie needs to be 3 hours long
I read a smattering of reviews for Oppenheimer just for a sense of things, because I’m pretty lukewarm on his stuff
But the topic is compelling and I’m interested in him doing a biopic
But i truly think this movie is ripe for Nolan’s biggest problem: he treats his audience like idiots and himself with an unearned profundity that keeps me from ever liking his films wholeheartedly
The closest I’ve ever gotten was the prestige and it’s been downhill since then
3 hours is just far too long for a movie
I miss the days of the 1:30 movie. I swear, the only genre that still makes nice, bite sized movies is horror, and it's just sad
Like, I enjoy some 3hr movies, but there are a lot more movies that should be 20 minutes shorter than 20 minutes longer out there.
I do have a bit of a love-hate with Interstellar....i think it’s a staggeringly beautiful movie, phenomenal sound design and execution, but it packages up some very basic bitch concepts, half of them lifted DIRECTLY from 2001 and tries to convince you that it’s deep
Which is kind of Nolan in a nutshell
more than 2 is already entering “do I really need to see it” territory
He half bakes sophomoric intellectualism and packages in a high prestige veneer to an audience he thinks can’t understand it
YEAH there are some movies that i think make 3 hours works
i enjoy the occasional 3 hour movie but a lot of time it just really doesn't need that runtime. hell, sometimes 2 is pushing it
Most action movies imo do not have the narrative meat to necessitate 3 hours
Most movies pushing past 2.5 and into 3 hours either don’t need to be...or probably would have been better served as a miniseries!
miniseries are much better than long movies
A very under utilized format
i would much rather spend a weekend binging 8 episodes on netflix than being trapped in a movie that’s dragging too long
Omg unity in interstellar love-hate
The last 20 minutes completely deflated my score of the movie LMFAO (but it didn’t help that I was fatigued by the run time)
Absolutely.....the ending was BUCK WILD, and the whole thing definitely could have happily been 30 mins shorter over all
man, preach re: these long ass movies tbh lmaooo
i also do not have the patience to sit for 3 hours in one place for most of these flicks
but it packages up some very basic bitch concepts, half of them lifted DIRECTLY from 2001 and tries to convince you that it’s deep
also crying at this laskdfjslf
man i just do not hvae the patience or attention to sit down for 3hr movies in a theater anymore
