which was a scary change to make, i felt secure at the symphony bc i'd been there for so long and knew how to do things that no one else did so i was needed!! i like being needed in a workplace.

but after 7 years, i was barely making above full time salaried minimum wage and the raise i got was about 20 bucks a week and it just felt kinda...insulting? so i rage-applied for a job at a larger nonprofit, got an interview, got another interview bc they were like "ok so i know u applied for this job but we reaaaaally need someone for this other one"

so rather than writing grant applications i now like, do grant compliance and budget stuff and make sure that every penny possible gets spent where it should

tinylongwing: yeah! it's still scary at times, especially with staff turnover and stuff that's been happening-- like, the person who trained me and was in the same position as me just left (though this wasn't her career path either so she's doing what she wanted now) and it's a bit unsteady feeling! but i'm definitely happy to be making more lol

and it feels good to still know my work benefits people-- probably moreso than my last position, since united way does so much work in the community
