not exactly romantic because idek how that would work, but i always found aisling and pokey's relationship interesting

They had a very fun and interesting friendship for sure

I liked playing against Aisling a lot

I friendshipped the heck out of Pokey and Slugger

Slugger was some of my absolute favorite CR ever

I think some of the best cr I ever had was in Mayfield.

Pokey was so good at drawing out the emotion/humanity in other characters even while being a little jerk

I’ve pretty much said everything with him I wanted to, but I still have a massive soft spot for him and Mayfield

He had such an amazing character arc. I enjoyed stalking his threads with other characters too.

Partly because it was fun to read and partly to figure out how you were doing it.

That means a lot to me. Honestly, it wouldn’t have been the same without the cast I had to play against, especially Slugger

The ways they influenced each other was phenomenal

The cast was amazing and had a good amount of kid characters. I remember there even being a KND club. I love when stuff like that just naturally happens in games.

Mayfield was just lightning in a bottle. It’s weird to think it ended eleven years ago

Almost forgot how Pokey and Slugger killed each other a couple times.

Theirs was the beginning of every beautiful friendship: murderous rage

That transition from enemies to frenemies to bffs

I think I remember shipping Pokey a little with Tak. Also with 86 and Aisling.

I always wish Tak had gotten to stick around a bit longer

I still love the night of the dance log and Pokey goofing on Slugger for asking Ai out

Their friendship was a real interesting exploration of both their humanity

Put together a guy who's losing his humanity and a guy who was never human, put them in an environment designed to drain souls ...and humanity springs eternal!

Just weirdly beautiful thanks to the people around them and their own friendship

I think one of my favorite events for kid characters was forced summer camp.

I think I got a little teary eyes over that one lol

I remember having a lot of fun with the Major too. He was probably the only person Slugger was afraid of.

He’s a character I will likely never pick up again, but I enjoyed getting to play him where I did.

Totally understandable. That probably took a lot of energy.

It took a lot of energy, and with the general political zeitgeist, I also wouldn’t feel right playing him.

I enjoyed playing him but I feel he wouldn’t be appropriate, even as a villain, anymore

Pokey id possibly pick up in a heartbeat to still futz about with on memes and museboxes, same with Haruko or a lot of old characters

But sadly the major just isn’t soneone I think I could good conscious play right now

makes sense

Also, speaking about Aisling briefly, I did love the interplay between them as these two naive, weird eternal children. They had very good back and forth in their arguments with each other.

I kind of miss that especially in DWRP culture today: there isn’t really anything LIKE Mayfield anymore, I feel

I don’t think there really are games anymore where multiple/varied character types, like kid characters, can really be present

It honestly is nice to talk about Mayfield again. I’ve missed it.

yeah, there aren't a whole lot of games that are suitable for kid characters nowadays

And I mean, that’s okay I guess

But even as a whole like DWRP seems to be moving more towards murder games and smut/sex friendly/focused games. Which is fine.

But admittedly isn’t what I want to play

Regarding the Major: I definitely hear you and get that.

Like The Major is a villain I adore but I doubt he’d fly now. And he was weirdly overwhelming with just the amount of engagement he got

Pokey and The Major’s tenure at Mayfield might have been some of the most engagement/biggest spreads of CR I ever had

not romantically but eliza and pokey were such good siblings

Pokey/Lilli was also really cute
