they'd been affectionate with eachother before because they haven't actually actively hated one another since like. a bit before bruce came back to life, but they did hug in gotham war.
This whole arc is just an excuse for Bruce to literally fight everyone
on the other hand its so obvious who zdarsky's favorite robin is. "I'M TRYING TO HELP HIM, IT'S WHAT I ALWAYS DO, UNLIKE YOU WHO KEEPS FIGHTING HIM". fuck off.
the funniest thing about this is that the bat family already teamed up to beat the shit out of possessed Bruce within the last year
To be fair, Zdarsky straight up said Tim's his favorite Robin an interview at the beginning of his run so it's not a secret
I just don't understand why Bruce is being portrayed like this
we're not supposed to remember all of that
bruce's characterization is whatever
he's never been a good dad anyway lmao.
its just between like. "oh its great to have tim back, hes so much better than dick and jason and any other children i guess i have hes so loyal and we work so well together oh tom yomh tom yim tim"
It's so jarring to read that issue and then the latest issue of Batman: The Adventures Continue, which takes place in DCAU and written by an OG DCAU writer. It's night and day in the characterizations
i like tim! dick riding him as batman's loyalest dog is an insult considering that, as robin, he had to deal with the worst version of bruce (and steph did too but haha) and did actually go against him all the time. it's just frustrating how shallow they're making him while ostensibly propping him up.
dcau bruce is still a manipulative asshole but it's in a more consistent less reactionary way than current comics.
it's funny because as frustrating as tom king's run is with all the pretentious batcatisms, i do think he consistently was pretty decent at characterizing the batfamily, especially in comparison to this whole mess.
but yeah tim and damian hug so i'll take what i can get
"tim and damian hugged" is all I read
that's all you need to know
old batman comics are good. current ones... eh?
i hear detective comics is okay nowadays
Does WFA count since that's its own separate universe?
Oh no you're reading zdarsky I'm so sorry
i'm not, but i have a lot of dc mutuals getting mad about it so i see a bunch of panels.
i don't know how zdarsky's fumbling batman so bad, i kinda dug his daredevil and spidey stuff.
Yeah, I'm so baffled by this run because I've heard so many good things about him and I liked his Urban Legends story
Still sorry for this man to move onto bat books, personally I cringed whenever I see pages of his daredevil stuff
my friends who are into daredevil said it started out strong and then went way downhill
Yeah, that's the general consensus, good start but very ??? At the end
But it's nice though that Tim and Damian finally hugged in canon, I just hope it becomes more reoccurring
And hopefully outside of zdarsky's hands, be strong bat fans
and as we stand here, witnessing the end of chip zdarsky's legendary twenty-year run on batman, defining the character and the franchise for generations to come, let us turn the page back to his earliest years on the comic...
