hard to rank with the games club because ultimately satoko, keiichi, rika, mion and rena's dynamic as a group is so unbelievably strong and heartwarming that i would rank it collectively above everything else (and would consider hanyuu and shion to be more tertiary members), but shion is one of my favorite characters individually.

satoshi is also a tertiary member even though he and mion were the ones who founded it, i'm sorry little man.

when could your found family fucking ever. they turned disposing of two corpses that one of their best friends just murdered and dismembered into a club activity. they fought paramilitary deathsquads with home alone esque antics. satoko killed amakusa by throwing a barrel at him from the sky.

that way of the house husband manga (very bizarre life and reputation, now pretending to be normal) but if his daughter was insane.

overall i would say rena and rika are the two best written characters. tsumihoroboshi is truly higurashi at its peak.

GOOD TASTE Rena has been one of my favorites for over a decade now

they're all so autistic/neurodivergent in slightly different ways but rena is like, i think one of the best intentional depictions of it i've seen. right down to the doctors misdiagnosing it as "yeah she's got a vitamin issue" lmao. i like that the story doesn't baby her in the slightest even though she talks in such an intentionally cute way and is so moe.

yeah like. they're ALL neurodivergent but rena being autistic is one of the few things i'll argue for like. being bordering on textual
