LOL I know it's just my brain but they have been very positive like
"Was looking for a guild for so long, so glad I found this one"
And "You seem like such a strong GM"
Oh god did my heart stop for a minute or was that just an anxiety spike
HUFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF.
It's a "honeymoon" phase kinda thing. But I'm also like CAN'T LET THEM DOWN NOW good grief
To be very fair, I usually don't care or take comments personally about the guild, it's structure or how members adjust but it's really weird this time
They aren't usually this....... positive OR this active
But we just got a very sociable and positive wave of newcomers and I'm like "wait for it. Someone will be toxic eventually, I'm sure of it"
Am I just that jaded? lmaooooooo
I usually don't even bother to get to know newcomers, partially because I don't have time and they have a tendency to come and go. Also, I am bad at 1 on 1 chatters unless I really know the person
So I don't typically seek them out, but usually just send our designated "social butterfly" officer out to break the ice
But this group (of like 4 people) reached out to ME and I am shook
OF COURSE WE GOT 1 person in the wave (a 5th) who has been lol uhhhh full of themselves
I was in vc with them a few times but a more recent time, when I spoke they were like "OH WE HAVE GIRLS IN THE GUILD?"
Me and social butterfly like. If we were in a room together you could FEEL the side eye. It was a POIGNANT "oh no...."
IN REACTION I told them "Oh yikes, you're one of those"
They sorta said sorry but I was like "HA nope. Too late. You have altered my opinion of you forever"
The curse of having a feminine voice and playing an MMO
This individual messaged me later to just talk about themselves. I humored them with one word answers. Nothing is kick them from the guild worthy. They're just. Idk, one of those 'guys'
ASHAME. But besides that one IN PARTICULAR we good
Lol when he messaged to talk about himself he was like "Oh you're that girl from vc right"
Alas, you can't fix stupid. But I'll take the few good ones we've got. They are delightful and I'm sure it'll be fine once I stop doubting and panicking that it's going well lol
Some guys just have totally outdated ideas about who plays games
I feel like on the ASIA server it's like 10 years behind tbh
Despite genuine best efforts of our current 90 members, 5 are women and that's including me
All our officers are male, and while I've tried to convince one of the other females to take an officer role, she's completely uncomfortable with the idea. Which is fine but it makes demographics feel even more skewed
I'd say it's a bit of culture? Like gender stereotypes be stroooooong for southeast Asia in general
So ya, it's some guys. But it's way more commonplace here. Or that's how it feels to me
In FF14 and ESO I was always in groups with the majority being non-male players
So maybe it's BDO or maybe it's the server, no idea
I know my FFXIV groups are either an even mix or a majority of femme-sounding people
Yaaaa so mayyybe the game?
