... once I'm not on my way to work.

hehe...dottir
Nat is one of the Very First OCs I ever made, and she's a bit of a walking spoiler for my second book, In The Cards ... but believe me when I say it doesn't matter, it doesn't ruin the story at all to know.
She is ... Not Okay, for a number of reasons, and her CWs include mental illness malpractice, religious discrimination/intolerance, attempted rape, murder, institutionalization, parent death/cancer, foster family systems, emotional abuse, occult rituals, hearing voices, and emotional manipulation.
if any of those are Not Good for you I have an
opt out that will eventually be her full permissions post.
THAT BEIN SAID this baby can fit so many Creepy Villain Girl tropes in it. /pats her on the head
Back in the 20s, her great grandfather Henry Marlowe decided it'd be a good idea to summon a supernatural entity to help him stay young so he could be a silent film star forever.
Said spirit made the bargain, got pissed when Henry tried to weasel out of his end, and cursed him so that one member of his family for every generation would be forced to serve it
They all either went insane, or otherwise ended badly. Nat is... the latest. But her mother tried very very hard to get away from the reputation the Marlowes ended up with! She was an herbalist who used her magic to help heal people and married her college sweetheart, a nice young psychologist.
BUT he was researching a new virus, got infected via a lab accident, and long story short for him, the side effects landed him in an asylum right before Nat's mom found out she was pregnant.
Single mom raised Nat as best she could and tried to teach her to be proud of her family and that magic was a good thing ... until she gets ovarian cancer and dies when Nat is 12, Dad still locked up.
So she goes to live with her uncle, who's ... very not about the magic and tries to get her to stop ... and she sees it as her last tie to her mom so she understandably throws a tantrum and uh
sets the living room on fire
So into the foster system she goes because he can't cope (and was a bit of an asshole anyway)... where she just starts repressing because she doesn't want to get in trouble etc, etc
Super duper cliff notes: meets a nice guy in college, they start going out until she finds out he was sent to keep an eye on her because of the Curse and is part of the canon Kickass Secret Magic Police.
He tries to explain that he still believes she can fight it, but she's too mad to listen. They break up, horribly and publicly, and she leaves only to have someone attempt to assault her under the "Oh hey don't cry it's okay" tactic of True Scumbags. Ex comes and intervenes before anything happens, but that just Makes It Worse.
Dad gets let out of the asylum because He's Okay Now (spoiler: he's not), and he and Nat get back in touch... and now they both have massive revenge agendas. SO YEAH she's now a Daddy's Girl trying to make up for 30 years of lost time by doing everything he wants to make him happy...
She finds Bunny at an estate sale with her uncle after her Mom dies .... As she's looking at things, it talks to her and says it's sorry about her mom ....
Because it's the spirit from the curse reaching out to get its hooks in her. So she gets super attached to it not knowing any better, and, well.
If bunny doesn't like you, god help you.
She's really smart and competent, and good at getting along with people because All She Wants Are Friends ... but most of them are superficial because she's afraid if they find out she has more baggage than a 747 they'll leave her.
She likes gardening, genealogy, and embroidery, and is basically what the Practical Magic aunts would look like if they did darker magic.
She's going to be so happy about being with Her People as soon as she stops being upset about Daddy not being with her.

art of her and Bunny that is old enough to drink in America
