Oh, ha ha. Alan will be dipping the quill into his pocket for more ink. I suppose that'll spill droplets, so, he'll tap the edge of it before lifting it to the paper to reduce that happening.

It's not uncapped, it's loosely sealed. Psssf I got a quill and ink set years ago and have never used it. How often does the ink run dry

(also a full inkwell doesn't run dry that fast, you usually use them uncapped if you're actively writing!)
