At this point I've got two UI/UX choices to drill down on and I really need that answer before I forge ahead.

Do we want to depend on a complex search bar to find specifics items, characters, or series, which can get VERY granular.
Or do we want to start out with filters on full lists?
Note: Filters will take longer to load up front and have few choices, but be faster after loading. Search bar will get you exactly what you ask for but be slower in general.
