Well, after four years of dodging, the Covfefe finally caught up with me… Started feeling it last evening, tested positive this morning. A lovely start to the new year!
Unfortunately, I was at a rather massive family holiday party Saturday night, right in the thick of the transmissible incubation. So the warnings went out all around, but I’m primarily worried about my 90-year-old mom!
As it happens, I’m virtually certain that I caught this from a person in our office that came in hacking away last week (albeit wearing a mask at least) And said she didn’t need to test for Covid because no one else in her home got it, therefore couldn’t possibly be Covid. Try to avoid, but apparently failed.
I love (ie don't love) how people with respiratory symptoms bend over backwards to convince themselves and others that it "cannot be covid because...".
misscat: Definitely get the booster! But, it can only do so much. I have had every shot they’ve offered. It’s not a guarantee because the variants are insane.
AlannaRobbiani: it looks like we’re on the same schedule; the overt symptoms are almost gone with just a bit of residual coughing and a few sniffles. Still feeling pretty beat up, so I’m glad I called off the rest of the week. Glad to hear you’re feeling better as well.
One thing I never heard about until my PCP mentioned it was the bizarre and horrible taste that Paxlovid imparts after about an hour, and for the rest of the day thereafter. Like chewing rancid aluminum foil. A small price to pay, however!
