it is a game I suppose. How do you respond when/if kids accuse you of giving favor?

blow it off but, make sure you don't. Usually the kids who listen, do what they are supposed to etc .. get the most attention from me.

the onery ones usually follow. They probably had a bad day or are needing attention.
