very nice! Xfce is goos for lightweight stuff. I think that compiling while using XFCE has a less of an impact on my system.

I use it on my work computer. it's been awesome to me. xubuntu FTW!

I'd rather Gentoo it personally

I used to use Gentoo (but became lazy , so I switched to ubuntu, and I must say it is pretty nice.

I guess I never fully grok'd or wanted to take the time to fully grok all the Use flags...

For servers I love FreeBSD.. For firewalls OpenBSD, For NASes I am pretty happy with OpenSolaris. For workstations and my netbook ubuntu

My laptop is OSX I guess I just can't make up my mind..

back to xfce. I've run it before, and had good luck with it.

Don't get me wrong - I use Gentoo AND Ubuntu. Heck I'm even on the Ubuntu-FL Team and hosted the release party for the Jacksonville, FL area

I switch back and forth depending on my mood or if I feel the need to tweak something.

BTW - my choice for NAS is FreeNAS, or a custom LVM / iSCSI SAN setup.

i've been meaning to play with FreeNAS. But I like ZFS and last time I looked at FreeNAS no ZFS

I have both Equal Logic and NetAPP Storage Arrays at the office..

haven't tried ZFS - will look into it.
