very nice! Xfce is goos for lightweight stuff. I think that compiling while using XFCE has a less of an impact on my system.

For servers I love FreeBSD.. For firewalls OpenBSD, For NASes I am pretty happy with OpenSolaris. For workstations and my netbook ubuntu

Don't get me wrong - I use Gentoo AND Ubuntu. Heck I'm even on the Ubuntu-FL Team and hosted the release party for the Jacksonville, FL area

BTW - my choice for NAS is FreeNAS, or a custom LVM / iSCSI SAN setup.
