playing with Metaplace for a little while, though I am not sure I have the time to learn _another_ scripting language. Not today anyway.

Raph Koster's virtual world. Looks like gauntlet. Is more fun.
It is quite fun, and certainly the best of the "make a virtual place" sites around that I have seen.
I would need to put in a lot of time, though, to have it do all the silly things I would want, and time is in short supply.
what's the base language? I got stalled a bit with the available assets and then started scripting some stuff otherwheres for a bit.
Lua. I do actually have a book on Lua, which I bought when Metaplace was first announced. It is literally covered with dust now.
push it through the interwebs; I'll dust it for you.
To be honest it seems like one of those many perfectly serviceable little scripting languages with similar syntax and an appealing name.
as long as the similarity doesn't run through coldfusion logic.
that it is used quite extensively in games programming.
grumbles: I know ...
